Normal leopard geckos hatch out yellow with black bands. They are called "normals" because they do not have any particular genes that put them into a morph category.

Sometimes a baby will hatch out with an irregular pattern, as opposed to having bands. If the tail is banded, however, the pattern is said to be aberrant. If the entire body is not banded, the gecko is said to be Jungle. The gecko below is aberrant.

As the gecko ages a few weeks, the black bands will begin to fade, looking more lavendar. The first spots may start to form on the head and body.

Before long, the black bands will have faded immensely and begin forming into more spots. Usually, the yellow does not fade too much, but this all depends on the genes of the gecko. Because many of our normals have a Line Bred Snow parent, their yellow tends to fade a lot more than usual.

The pics below are of Juvenile normals, ranging from 25 to 45 grams.

And finally, a few pics of an adult Normal.
